Voluntary Funeral Benefit

The Voluntary Funeral Benefit provides a cash benefit on the death of the principal member, immediate or extended family members. Membership is offered on a voluntary basis.

The funeral benefit provides much needed financial assistance on the loss of a loved one. Payment of the benefit takes place within 48 hours of receipt of all documentation. This benefit is aimed at members of groups which do not offer compulsory funeral benefits or for members who belong to a compulsory arrangement but would like to top up their benefits. As the arrangement is voluntary a waiting period will apply. The benefit structure can be tailored to suit the needs of the group. Prior to commencement, NBC undertakes a detailed market comparison, obtaining quotations from a number of underwriters to ensure that obtaining the most competitive rate is not at the expense of less beneficial policy conditions. Depending on the insurer selected, NBC may have an administration outsourcing arrangement in place. This means that we process the claims on behalf of the insurer. This allows us more control over the quality of the service provided.

The group requiring a voluntary funeral benefit may contact us either via their consultant or directly. We will request the details necessary in order to obtain accurate quotation from various insurers. We will then check the quotations for accuracy and compile a detailed report. Once the group has taken a decision on the benefit structure required and the insurer appointed we will oversee the installation process.
